Le Grannus Metodo is one of the last well bred stallions by his legendary Grannus., out of Sarissa, by Salut – Cardinal xx – Lavendel – Agram – Alljeder, plus further generations from the early days of the Hanoverian sport horse breeding program. The pedigree traces back to 1897. This successful Hanoverian dam line # 429 produced 8 approved stallions. Sarissa, besides Le Grannus Metodo, also produced the international successful jumper Madisson Du Ry, born 2000, by Adlefos.

Sire line of Le Grannus Metodo:
Grannus, by the famous sire Graphit, out of Odessa, by Ozean – Gotthard – Freiburg, was himself a very cocky; full of him self kind of a stallion. After the stallion licensing in Oldenburg, he had a bad stallion performance test, due to his temperament. During the following years he was not very much accepted by the breeders in Oldenburg, but showed with the children of the owner in the jumper classes. Here he showed his great talent, his carefulness and scope.
Grannus’s Progeny:
His first national and international successful offspring were Granny Fox, Gran Fu and Gigolo. During the Volvo World Cup finals 1989, six of his offspring competed in Dortmund. That certainly broke the ice and Grannus bred innumerable mares each year. His son Top Gun was a member of the Olympic Gold Medal Team for the Netherlands, with Jan Tops in tack. He also rode the mare Gran Dame at international level, who also showed successful in her second career with Zangersheide rider Judy Ann Melchior.
Numerous international Grand Prix jumpers around the world made Grannus “the” stallion. His son Grannusch competed until he was 21 years old at the highest level of international Grand Prix jumping and was numerous times a member of the Great Britain Nations Cup team; as also the international Grand Prix jumper Governor, ridden by Phillip Lejöne / Belgian. To mention all the successful international Grand Prix jumpers by Grannus, would take a book to be published.
Graphit:
His sire Graphit is an offspring off the legendary Hanoverian G-line, followed by the famous Hanoverian F-line to the stallion Frustra II. He is also the dam sire of the successful international Grand Prix Dressage stallion Pik Bube I (Herbert Rehbein) and his full brother Pik Bube II, who both, to this day, have a major impact in modern sport horse breeding. The sire of Graphit, the National Stud owned stallion Grande, by Graf, out of the mare by Duellant, is also considered being an outrageous producer of international sport horses and breeding stallions and broad mares. To only mention a few horses, there is the international Grand Prix dressage horse Galapagos, ridden by Gabriella Grillo and the international successful Grand Prix jumper Gratulant, ridden by Gerd Wiltfang, the World Champion jumper rider from 1978. Grande, not big in size, had an enormous influence in the sport horse breeding and sired stallions, as Graditz, who is the sire of the most successful international and Olympic Grand Prix dressage horse Gigolo, ridden by Isabell Werth / Germany. Grande also sired the stallion Grunewald, who is the sire of the two times Dressage Olympic Team Gold Medallist Grunox / Monika Theodoresco / for Germany.

The dam of Grannus, the Trakehner / Hanoverian bred mare Odessa is of equal importance. Her sire Ozean traces back to one of the most influential Trakehner family lines of the main Trakehner stud in East Prussia. These valuable genes are still found today in the various breeding programs in Europe. Odessa produced during her breeding career 8 offspring from which 6 mares still produce successful offspring for the sport horse world today.
The dam sire of Odessa is the famous and legendary sire Gotthard, with him there is a line breeding in the pedigree of Grannus on the fabulous Hanoverian G-line. Gotthard, born in 1949, started his breeding career fairly late in his life. After the breeders realized how much potential his offspring had at the jumps, he was totally booked out over the last years alive, before he passed away in 1974.
The line breeding on the Hanoverian A- and F-line in Gotthard’s third generation on the dam side, is also equally weaving into the line to the stallion Alderman I, to the foundation sires of the thoroughbred breeding. The National Stud the owned stallion Gotthard still to this day has his phenomenal influence in the successful sport horse breeding. There is close to no breeding program in Europe which has not used this outrageous gene pool in their breeding programs.
Gotthard is the sire, dam or grand dam sire of 87 licensed stallions all over the world, also is responsible for more than 20 offspring jumping at international level and a high number of State Premium mares.
The background of Grannus pedigree, the fourth and fifth generations are again lined up to the foundation sires of the Hanoverian F- and A-line, where there is the same background tracing all the way back to the famous foundation stallion in the thoroughbred breeding.
As a dam sire, Grannus also had an enormous influence! The mare San Patrignano Weihaiwej, the international Grand Prix winner and World Champion from 1994, ridden by Franke Sloothaak / Germany, won the first Grand Prix classes at the age of eight. San Patrignano Weihaiwej, after she was retired, turned into a very fertile broad mare and produced 7 offspring and is already a “grand mother”. The licensed stallion For Pleasure, double Olympic Team Gold Medallist, as also the licensed stallion Couleur Rubin, who is internationally successful with Ludger Beerbaum, they and all the others, are a proof for the strength of the genetically influence of the stallion hero Grannus.
Grannus left close to 300 ofspring which carry this wonderful gene pool into the future, to make sport horse breeding worth while.
Le Grannus Metedo Damline:
The dam sire of Le Grannus Metodo is the other very famous Hanoverian stallion Salut. His pedigree also reads like the “who is who” list in the breeding department of the early stage of Europe’s successful sport horses. Salut, a privately owned breeding stallion, sired innumerable international Grand Prix jumpers in the 1970ties and 80ties. His female offspring are to this day, very important for the successful breeding progress.
Salut is by Sender, an offspring from the famous Trakehner stallion Semper Idem, out of the Hanoverian G-
Line, by Gong, coupled with the Anglo Arabian influence by the stallion Kurde x.
Salut, by Sender – St.Pr.mare Golftaube, by Gong – Kurde x
Sender, the sire of Salut, by Senator - Abendsport
Sender sired during his breeding career more then 13 licensed stallions and is the dam and grand dam sire of more than 42 licensed stallions all over Europe. His gene pool has also influence on the stallion. Salieri sired one of the most successful dressage competitors in the World. Salieri himself competed on the international jumper circuit with German rider Holger Wulschner
Besides all the international successful jumpers, there has been a gelding named just like his sire, Salut. He won international Grand Prix classes, was numerous times member of the successful German Nations Cup Team, with Willibert Mehlkopf on board. The picture shows him during the CHIO Aachen 1985. The annual international young riders meeting in December of each year is called after him as the “Salut Festival” and attracts young riders from all over Europe.
